The fastest route if you have an account. You sign in, and your certificate opens inside your private record. Nothing is downloaded to a shared inbox.
No account needed. We send a short PIN to your phone by SMS or WhatsApp, you enter it on the secure page, and your certificate opens. The PIN works once and then expires.

When your medical is signed off, we send a short email that says your certificate is ready. The email carries no result and no file, only a secure link.

Different medicals produce different documents. Here is what each one is, in plain language, and why some are handled with extra care.
The main document from a workplace medical. It states whether you are fit for the job you were examined for. It does not list your private medical details, only the fitness outcome. You open it through this secure page.
Tests such as hearing, lung function or vision produce readings that belong to you. These are special personal information under POPIA, so they live inside your secure record, never in an email or an attachment.
If the practitioner suggests you see your own doctor, you may receive a referral. It can name a health concern, so it is released to you, privately, and is not shared with your employer.
Some medicals include extra documents, like the certificate for a professional driving permit. The practitioner completes an online verification and issues the additional documents, which you then collect through the same secure route.
Who sees what. Your employer is entitled to know whether you are fit for the work, not the private detail behind that decision. We keep the two apart on purpose. The fitness outcome can be shared with your employer; your detailed health information stays with you, unless you ask us otherwise or the law requires it.
POPIA is the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013. These are the parts that decide how your medical information must be handled.
The Act sets your health information apart as special personal information and starts by prohibiting its processing. That is the strongest protection in the law, and it is the default your medical result sits behind.
Read the sectionThe prohibition does not apply to a medical professional where handling the information is necessary for your proper treatment and care, or for running the practice. This is the narrow door that lets Care Net examine you and issue your certificate, and it comes with duties attached.

Login is fastest if you already have a My Clinic Online account, and it shows your past certificates and renewal dates too. The PIN needs no account: we send a short code to your phone by SMS or WhatsApp, you enter it on the secure page, and it works once before it expires. Both are secure. Choose whichever suits you.

Yes. Once your certificate opens in the secure page, you can save your own copy. The original also stays in your secure record, so if you lose your copy you can open it again.
We keep your records for the period health and safety law requires, which can be several years and, for some kinds of surveillance, much longer. We store them in a secure, POPIA-aware system rather than a paper file that can be lost or read by the wrong person.
You may ask what information we hold about you, ask for a copy, and ask us to correct anything that is wrong. If your information were ever exposed, the law requires us to tell you and the Information Regulator as soon as reasonably possible. These rights are set out in the Protection of Personal Information Act.
